On 4 August 1789, hundreds of liberal nobles gathered, all of who were swept up in revolutionary fervour.
That night, they pledged to abolish all of their privileges, financial and otherwise, as well as the feudal ancien regime system in France, thus making it the Night of Patriotic Delirium. It was a largely symbolic event which marked the philosophical demise of the inequalities which had plagued the ancien regime, and one where no practical considerations were discussed.
