The Supreme Court (Court of Appeal) is the second highest court in the Victorian court hierarchy, directly above the Supreme Court (Trial Division) and below the High Court of Australia.
Because this court specialises in appeals, it has no original jurisdiction.
The Court of Appeal hears appeals on point of law, conviction or sentence from the County and Supreme (Trial Division) Courts, provided that leave to appeal has been given.
The Court of Appeal hears civil appeals on points of law, disputes over facts or on amount of damages from the County and Supreme Courts, as well as VCAT.
